Publish Peace

Welcome to my brand new blog! Thank you so much for being here. Before I start writing my regular blog posts, I want to introduce myself.

I’m Lindsey Chisholm. I’m married to the greatest guy in the world, Karter, and we’ve been married for a little over three years now! We were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City temple on August 20, 2015, about three months after I graduated high school. When you know, you know!

I switched majors six times during my freshman year of college. I had no idea what I wanted to be, and I explored every field from teaching to interior design. As I looked into different career paths and options, nothing felt right until I came across professional and technical writing. I thought I’d give it a try, and from my very first editing class (nerdy, I know), I fell in love.

I went into this thinking I would end up writing instruction manuals because I didn’t think I had a creative bone in my body. I loathed creative writing and art class, but during my second-to-last semester in college, I decided to apply for an internship way out of my comfort zone. I was SO underqualified and didn’t know the first thing about journalism, but that summer I found myself writing for FamilyShare.com (now Famifi.com), which had over 20 million people following their Facebook pages.

I started writing short-form blog style content and loved it. I still remember when one of my articles hit 1 million views — it was one of the greatest feelings in the entire world. I decided I definitely didn’t want to spend my days writing instruction manuals and I wanted to write content that mattered. Content that would change lives (cliché, I know).

Fast forward a year, and I’m now in a graduate program studying professional communication. And more importantly, I’m interning at LDS Living writing content about what I’m most passionate about — my faith in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

I’ve never felt closer to God than I have in the past three months that I’ve been an intern. I’ve learned so much and I want to continue to write about what brings me the very most joy. But besides writing about my faith and beliefs, I just want to write content that makes people feel better than they did before visiting this blog.

I was reading the Book of Mormon and a verse in 2 Nephi jumped off the page and into my heart. I’ve been feeling the need to create this blog for a while now, but the two words “publish peace” gave me the push I needed to actually do it.

I hope this space gives me the opportunity to “publish peace” and testify of my love for the gospel of Jesus Christ.
